Astellas is announcing a Business Analytics Manager -- Health Systems/Payer opportunity in Northbrook, IL.
Purpose & Scope:
The Business Analytics Manager - Health System/Payer, is responsible for performing advanced analytics and presenting results, business insights, and actionable recommendations to support Astellas Pharma US Health Systems and marketing brand teams. His/her functional responsibilities include conducting data analyses to better understand payer and integrated health system customer behaviors, measure market impact, and identify trends.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Consult with Health Systems, Marketing and Insights & Analytics colleagues on business questions and lead development of analytical frameworks to provide actionable insights and business guidance.
Collaborate on development of advanced analytical tools across multiple therapeutic areas to advance understanding of payer and integrated health system customer segments and assess access opportunities and threats for key brands.Explores and proposes use of new datasets and methodologies. Identifies and realizes opportunities for automation and other efficiencies.
Conduct statistical analyses to evaluate payer and integrated health system customer policies/behaviors, impact, and trends across the portfolio.
Utilize statistical software tools to assess key drivers of impact using well-constructed and accurate models, as well as, accurate and applicable data sources.
Participate in cross-functional team environments and manage a variety of concurrent projects including payer/health system segmentation, payer management impact and spillover analysis, payer mix and site of care reimbursement analysis, reimbursement and payer marketing program utilization and ROI analysis.
Dissect complex business issues by identifying and applying the correct research techniques and providing superior analyses and reasoned solutions based on the integration of a variety of data sources.
Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues on integrating analytical data and insights with other primary and secondary data sources into cross-functional strategic exercises such as annual brand planning, Mid-Term Plan/forecast, launch planning, etc.
Exhibit analytical rigor in the valuation of business opportunities and the quantification of risk.
Utilize analytics to advance internal understanding of how changes in Astellas markets and the broader healthcare ecosystem affect patient access for in-line and pipeline products, including evolving delivery/payment models, utilization management techniques, and financial incentives.
Keep outsourcing of payer/health system analytics to within budget
Provide recommendations to improve health systems and strategic accounts strategies/tactics that have measurable impact on promotional investments, gross-to-net, market share, or patient access and affordability.

Reports to Director, who in turn reports to Executive Director, Insights & Analytics
Requires close collaboration with Health Systems stakeholders and Insights & Analytics colleagues
7+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
Minimum of 3-5 years statistical analysis and research design experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry and 2 years statistical modeling experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SAS and/or R.
Working knowledge of various statistical modeling techniques and their application within complex analytical projects(e.g., decision theory, options, risk assessment, game theory, etc.)
Experience with payer and health system secondary data sources, such as formulary tools, pricing databases, and claims data.
Experience with pharmaceutical data sources, such as IQVIA, Source Healthcare Analytics, Specialty Pharmacy data, etc.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees including senior management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to details, and the ability to multi-task.
Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills and ability to effectively manage cross-functional projects.
Ability to work independently in a dynamic fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision.
Ability to act with a sense of urgency while being flexible and responsive to changing business priorities.
M.S. in Statistics or Economics or other quantitative discipline is preferred, or MBA with Marketing Analytics, Decision Science, or Analytical Finance Concentration
Knowledge of and experience with evaluating various payer channels (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) and benefit design/formulary analysis and strategy development.
Working experience with decision graphs, game theory, negotiations, and risk.
Working knowledge of the evolving healthcare landscape, including but not limited to the Affordable Care Act, integrated delivery systems and accountable care organizations, and market factors shaping coverage and reimbursement
