    Objective

    This position will be part of Alstom's Services group and includes the design, re-engineering, reverse engineering, make Vs buy, obsolescence, and re-build in kind of components or parts for the railroad Industry in OEM or non OEM vehicles.

    Responsibilities and Accountabilities

    The goal is to apply all the electrical and mechanical knowledge to reverse engineer, make Vs. buy, identify obsolesce, overhaul, repair, design, upgrade and execute engineering changes of parts; providing drawings, bill of materials and manufacture hours to replace parts requested by the customers. Review vendor offers for compatibility with the customer parts specifications.

    • Work on bids proposals to repair, redesign, and overhaul equipment, printed circuit boards and in general electrical and electronics parts used in the rail industry.

    • Ensure all the parts proposal will meet the customer specifications in form, fit and function.

    • Provide electrical or mechanical drawings, bill of material, detailed work scope with labor hours, assembly and testing instructions for mechanical parts and electrical or electronic parts.

    • Make sure parts will comply with all the customer specifications, industrial standards, safety criticality evaluation, norms standards, etc.

    • Be thoroughly familiar with the project specification and its requirements relating to the electrical design tasks associated with the parts requested.

    • Desirable experience in rail industry standards and design or with similar industry products such as Transportation vehicles, and or high-low voltage equipment, and discrete electronic components. Have experience in preparing procurement specifications and technical requirements from customer specification to drive the design of the parts requested, prepare electrical and mechanical interface schematics, drawings, and documentation of assigned systems and meet deliverable schedule.

    • Be familiar with any Bench Tester Equipment software like NI Lab View, ATEasy

    • Coordinate and lead efforts with subsystem vendors to confirm compliancy with customer requirements. The Engineer will interface with the customer and vendors to insure compliancy and valid design.

    • Desire to be familiar with the rail, electrical and mechanical norms and standards such as FRA, AAR, IEEE, ANSI etc.

    • Provide instructions to drafters and designers for the development and preparation of schematics, layouts, assembly, and detail drawings. Provide engineering support during production of the part specify and select electrical or electronic components to be applied in the parts.

    • Provide customer technical support as needed.

    • Support ALSTOM sales representatives when needed.

    • Operate in the ALSTOM CCB participate in Design Reviews and Gate Reviews for electrical parts.

    • Report projects status using excel tools.

    • Coordinate suppliers for Engineering services and lead wreck repair projects as needed

    • 100% Familiar with Solid works and CATIA to design drawings and scan parts to complete 2D and 3D drawings

    Educational Requirements

    Bachelor's Degree Electromechanical Engineering required or similar

    Travel Requirements

    Ability to travel 60% of the time (domestic and international)

    Experience (Essential Functions)

    Have a minimum of 5 years in engineering experience or 2 years engineering experience in the rail industry
