  • ASRC Federal Field Services (AFFS) in Enid, Oklahoma is seeking a Mechanical Staff Engineer to design HVAC systems for buildings in support of our contract with the United States Air Force at Vance Air Force Base.

    AFFS specializes in providing contracted support to the Federal Government, throughout North America, and beyond. AFFS is a private company that provides design services, specifically at Vance Air Force Base. We are a small to mid-size, multi-discipline, architectural/engineering firm specializing in commercial-type infrastructure and facility design. Our office is growing our services and is seeking a Mechanical Staff Engineer to join the design team. We are seeking qualified applicants to join the current, experienced, design team to serve the needs of Vance Air Force Base. AFFS offers competitive salaries, benefits and a good work/life balance. Applicant will work closely with other professional engineers and architects to design solutions for the numerous facilities on the base. Specifically, the mechanical staff engineer will prepare construction documents to support the heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and other mechanical systems and components.

The Mechanical Staff Engineer will be engaged with skilled craftsmen in the maintenance of HVAC systems, will collaborate with professional engineers to develop solutions for new projects, provide design services, develop construction documents and work with construction contractors through the duration of projects. This work environment takes place within Vance Air Force Base and allows the engineer to engage closely is multiple aspects of the mechanical engineering industry. The in-house staff and the Air Force have a team of expert engineers to assist and provided technical guidance on the state-of-the-art mechanical processes needed to sustain the Air Force mission.

    • Proficient in the use of design software, specially AutoCAD, and Revit (on the job training will be provided for applicants already familiar with other design software).

    • Use MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat.

    • Capable of attending and engaging in meetings with clients, owners, contractors, etc. in a positive and productive manner.

    • Possess a good work ethic and be efficient in job duties.

    • Strong desire to grow professionally through attendance of training classes and pursuit of professional

    • Coordinating with the in-house, professional staff (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection and architect) and in-house construction personnel.

    • Performing and delivering technical reviews of data deliverables, including design and construction documents.

    • Gather and analyze project data and presenting information in various facets.

    • Graphic preparation and analysis using AutoCAD and Revit.

    • Preparation of technical specifications.

    • Providing cost and schedule analysis.

    • Assisting in planning, coordinating and facilitating project meetings and site visits.

    • Assisting with performing quality control oversight of field and programmatic activities.

    • Construction administration including review of shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and coordinate with construction management, through the construction phase of the project, including site visits to active construction projects.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in mechanicalengineering, or higher, from an ABET accredited university.

    • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is a preferred, but not required. Applicant will need to complete the FE exam within 12 months of date of hire. Candidate should have a strong desire to pursue licensure in professional engineering.

    • Experience of a minimum of 2 years in the mechanicalengineering design discipline is required. HVAC and plumbing design experience is preferred.

    • U.S. citizen.

    • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Oklahoma driver's license within 90 days of hire.

    • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a government common access card.
